12:68:20:03.  Methods of euthanasia. Euthanasia of animals under authority of SDCL chapter 40-1 must be by methods that produce instantaneous unconsciousness and immediate death without visual evidence of pain or distress or by administering an anesthetic which causes loss of consciousness and death following loss of consciousness.
