The meeting was called to order by Chairman Cutler.


The Senate Taxation Committee also attended the meeting.


Chairman Paisley and Chairman Cutler asked the committee members to introduce themselves. Fred Baatz, LRC staff, and the committee secretaries were also introduced.


The Department of Revenue staff introduced themselves: Jim Schade, Director of Property and Special Taxes Division; Deb Hillmer, Director of Motor Vehicles; Tim Weber, Chief Legal Counsel; Scott Peterson, Director of Business Tax Division; Jim Fry, Director of Administrative Services; and Gary Viken, Secretary of Revenue. Bruce Christensen, Director of Audit Division, was unable to attend the meeting. Laurie Bonrud, Governor's Office monitor, helped with the Department's slide presentation.


Secretary Viken presented a rundown of his 1996 Annual Report. Members were given a folder (Document #1) which contained much of this information.




The meeting was adjourned.
