FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to
define the consolidation of school districts.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
Section
1.
That
§
13-6-1
be amended to read as follows:
13-6-1.
Terms used in this chapter
, unless the context otherwise requires,
mean:
(1)
"Joint district," a school district having territory in two or more adjoining counties.
Jurisdiction within a joint district is determined as provided in
§
13-5-14;
(2)
"Party," any person or municipality interested in any proceedings under the provisions
of this chapter;
(3)
"Plan," a plan proposing the formation or elimination of one or more school district
entities;
(4)
"Reorganization," the formation, consolidation, or subdivision of school districts;
(5)
"Requirements and limitations for reorganization," those requirements and limitations
provided by law;
(6)
"State board," the South Dakota Board of Education
;
(7) "Consolidation," the combining of two or more districts in which a new district and
school board are created
