SECOND READING OF SENATE BILLS AND JOINT RESOLUTIONS

SB 239 (Deferred from 17th LD) repeal the state's membership in the multistate tax
commission.
SB 159 (Deferred from 17th LD) revise the state aid to general education formula by
including an adjustment for students with limited English proficiency.
SB 174 (Deferred from 17th LD) provide that an out-of-country foreign judgment need not
be recognized if the cause of action resulted in a defamation judgment obtained in a
jurisdiction outside the United States, unless a court in this state first determines that
the defamation law applied in the foreign court's adjudication provided at least as
much protection for freedom of speech and press as would be provided in this state
by enacting the free speech defense Act.
SB 119* ensure freedom of media coverage of high school activities.
SB 147* revise certain provisions relating to domestic abuse and protection orders.
SB 115 increase the commercial fertilizer inspection fee for purposes of fertilizer-related
research and to create the Nutrient Research Education Council to promote such
research.
SB 224 revise and repeal certain aviation statutes and to increase certain related fees.
SB 105 revise certain provisions regarding instruction permits and restricted minor's permits
to drive a motor vehicle.
SB 106 prohibit certain minors from using wireless communication devices while operating
motor vehicles upon the public highways.
SB 107 limit the number of passengers allowed in a motor vehicle operated by a holder of a
restricted minor's permit.
SB 185 clarify the authority of the interim rules review committee.
SB 200 revise certain provisions concerning campaign finance.

HB 1019 (Deferred from 17th LD) authorize the involuntary treatment of jailed prisoners with
psychotropic medication.

treatment of persons with mental illness.
