36-9-39.
Licensing of licensed practical nurse or vocational nurse from out of state.
Upon
application and payment of the required fee, the Board of Nursing may issue a license to practice as
a licensed practical nurse by endorsement to any applicant who is a graduate of an approved program
or has met the requirements by equivalency and has been licensed as a licensed practical nurse or
licensed vocational nurse under the laws of another state, territory or foreign country, if, in the
opinion of the board, the applicant meets the qualifications required of licensed practical nurses in
this state at the time of original licensure. However, if any applicant for licensure by endorsement
has not been employed as a nurse for more than six years, the board may establish reentry standards,
by rules promulgated pursuant to chapter 1-26, and may require such written evidence, verified by
oath, as may be deemed necessary to determine compliance with such standards.
